Blizzard Extra Large Lit Snowman
The Blizzard Extra Large Lit is the most impressive member of our Blizzard family; a handcrafted snowman gourd luminary nearly 25" tall with a glowing smiling face, hand-crafted cottage windows, and an open belly framed by two green gourd trees that can be filled with holiday candy, ornaments, or seasonal decor.
How it's made:
Blizzard's smiling face is hand-cut by our crafters, creating a warm, inviting glow when lit from within. The cottage belly is crafted through a series of inlays; the windows and open belly frame are hand-cut, hand-dyed a rich red, and reinserted seamlessly into the hand sponged white body, creating a crisp, warm color contrast that glows beautifully when the piece is lit. Two green gourd trees are hand-cut and hand-dyed before being attached to both sides of the belly opening to complete the cottage scene.
Blizzard is finished with a clay orange nose, a red pipe, a wintery plaid scarf, and a black top hat adorned with a red berry and a plaid hat band, all applied by hand on our farm. He rests on a natural wood biscuit base, and a hole is cut into the back of the gourd that allows an electric light cord to be utilized, allowing for a luminary design to be achieved.
