Fall in October
We are officially in the Fall season and have lots packed in the month of October!
Fall Sale
We kick off October with our Annual Fall Sale from October 10th to October 17th. Enjoy 25% off all regular Fall Meadowbrooke Gourds in our retail store during this time. Some of our other Fall home décor will also be on sale, look for signs in the store. https://mbgourds.com/event/fall-sale/
For those of you that are not local, there will be an online sale taking place from October 9th to October 12th. During this sale, our Fall gourds will be 20% off. Supplies are limited so make sure to get your orders in early. We will also be offering some limited edition Fall gourds for our online customers only, check them out before they are gone.
Fall Tours
While you are here for the sale, take an up close free tour of our crafting areas. We will be offering one tour each day from October 12th to the 16th at 2:00pm. This is the first time since March that we have offered tours. We will tell you about how we got started in the gourd business, how we grow our gourds and then you will see our craftsman in each area working and crafting gourds. This is a public tour and is about 45 minutes long and is an all walking tour inside. No reservations are needed and masks will be required while on the tour. For more information, please visit https://mbgourds.com/event/fall-tours-2020/.
October Class
On October 17th, you will have the opportunity to work with Plantscapes by Design to create a unique succulent arrangement in a Meadowbrooke hard-shelled gourd. The gourd will be dyed walnut. Don’t worry if you don’t have a “green thumb” because the ladies from Plantscapes will walk you through planting and provide information to keep your planter beautiful (and alive) all season long. All materials are provided and registration is required. We have opened up a third and final class for the day starting at 3:00 until 5:00 so make sure you sign up to avoid disappointment. Click here for more information and to register.
Live at the Farm Music
We have two more music events at the farm during October. We are excited to partner with Molly Pitcher Brewery in Carlisle to bring music to the farm on October 10th and October 24th from 5:00pm-8:00pm. On October 10th, bring your friends and family out to the farm for great food, craft beer and awesome music by Shine Delphi and Grace Mahar who will open for Seldom Said No. On October 24th, music will be provided by Hold Fast with special guest Bubba for a Special Halloween Show. Both are a ticketed event and you must reserve a space to attend. For more details about how to reserve a spot and links to the band’s information, please click below.

Sunflower Festival
Last but definitely not least, we want to thank everyone who came out or tried to come out to our Sunflower Festival this year. We were very excited to add the additional craft vendors to add a variety of gifts and home décor for you to choose from along with all the food vendors. This Festival has become a tradition for many friends and families who gather to pick sunflowers, shop the discounted oops and spend time together on our beautiful farm.
We also knew this weekend would be a big one and met weekly prior to last weekend to arrange and make plans to accommodate the crowds, increase our parking capacity all while following the current regulations and guidelines set out for us. To say this weekend was overwhelming would be an understatement. We quickly realized that although we had a plan in place, we were not prepared for the amount of people who planned to attend. As soon as we realized that we were going to fill our parking areas, we quickly updated our Facebook to explain that we were full and were going to have to turn cars away. We also realized that for customers who were traveling from further away, this update may have arrived too late and for this we apologize.
We have already started looking at next year and taking steps to resolve the situations we ran into this year. Each time we do something at the farm, we learn something new. Some are huge eye openers and others are small tweaks that will help the next event go even smoother. If you know anything about us, you know we are constantly changing how we do things, always looking for an easier, more efficient way of doing things. This experience will be no different so know that we will be making changes for next year, so stay tuned.
October is a busy month here on the farm and we hope you are able to make it out to take advantage of all the fun and exciting things going on.
Until next month,
Dori
