Travis Tennant

I met Travis Tennant almost a year ago. He was helping to price oops gourds for our big Fall Oops Sale. He was quiet, worked quickly and had a very nice smile. Who would have thought that a year later, he would be working full-time at Meadowbrooke Gourds.

He was born in Morgantown, WV and grew up in Daybrook, WV. He is one of four children in his family. He has one older brother and two younger siblings, a brother and a sister. He graduated from Cla-Battelle High School located in Blacksville, WV in 2011. Right after high school, he started at a community college but decided it just was not for him. Travis then got a job in a machine shop near his home town. He eventually moved to Carlisle, PA in February of 2016 and got a job to be closer to his then-girlfriend. He married Bre in October of 2016.

His wife, Bre and Ashley (our farmer and product quality control inspector) were very good friends from high school and that is how he came to know Meadowbrooke. He started like everyone else, helping on the farm crew in the evenings after his full-time job in the summer of 2017. He also helped during some of the Create Your Owns at the end of last year and was a great asset during last fall’s Oops sale handling the cash line. Because of some rearranging of jobs in shipping and production, Meadowbrooke was going to be in need of a full-time shipper starting in mid summer to the early winter months and then a production person the rest of the year. Well, the rest is history, Travis was a great fit and came on full-time in July of this year. He spends July through December in shipping and from January to June in production mostly in the finishing room.

Travis is an outdoors kind of guy. In his spare time, he enjoys hunting and fishing. Take a good look at the picture above and keep an eye out for him at the upcoming events on the farm. Make sure to say hi, he will greet you with a warm hello and that great smile.
