July on the Farm
We have been reopened for a month and lots of planning has happened in that short amount of time. I have ordered and received some new lines in our retail store, planned the new look of the Summer Celebration and have started talks about how we can start holding classes again. This will help to catch you all up on what has been going on.
Our Americana and All-Season Sale is still going on until July 3rd. This sale is online and in our retail store. Americana gourds is self-explanatory but All-Season gourds seems to be a little more vague and more confusing to some. So, here is a list that is also included in the sale birdhouses, cats, dogs, birds, lanterns, farm animals, and wine gourds. This is a great time to hang out houses for your feathered friends that are looking for homes for their second nesting. If you are thinking about friends and family that are dog and cat lovers, we have you covered for their upcoming birthdays. Wine gourds make a wonderful gift for the wine enthusiasts you know.
I am also excited to let you know that I have gotten in two new lines in our retail store. The first is local honey from Honeybee Friendly located in Dillsburg, PA. Tara and Greg are first generational beekeepers who provide us the best products fresh from the hive. We have raw honey, infused honey with lavender, lemon thyme and orange ginger and soon will be carrying their beeswax lip balm containing essential oils. The second line is MudLove bracelets. These bracelets are easy to wear and can fit any size wrist. Their simplicity is stunning, and their message is moving. For every bracelet sold, MudLove supplies one week of clean, fresh water to someone in need in Central African Republic through the Water for Good organization. To find out more about his organization, please visit https://waterforgood.org/.
Now, onto the Summer Celebration which is gong to happen on July 18th. Yes, it is going to look different this year, but we have worked really hard to come up with a plan. Here is the plan, along with the safety measures we will have in place and times that everything is going to happen. Let’s begin with the Oops sale which is the first thing that opens on Saturday. We will be having 3 tents, one for Fall gourds, one for Winter gourds and one for Spring, All Season gourds and Village pieces. These tents are open to the public and will open promptly at 10:00 am and close at 7:00 pm. We will be limiting the number of customers in each tent to 15 at a time so we will have “door men” who will be keeping count and letting people in. Hand sanitizer will be available in each tent and there will be a checkout in each individual tent. We will continue to restock throughout the day.
This year instead of having an open field to watch the band, we are selling 10x10 spots that are 6 feet apart where you and 4 of your friends or family can sit and enjoy the classic Rock and Roll sounds of Mid Life Crisis. Each spot will be marked off and numbered. Some spots come with a tent while others allow you can bring your own tent. There is still lots of spots left but they are going fast. You must purchase a spot and receive email tickets to be checked into this roped off area therefore, limiting the amount of people in this area. Check in will begin at 4:00 pm and you will receive a wrist band to be readmitted to this area. Hand sanitizer will be available at each check in point. Mid Life Crisis is scheduled to play from 5:00 pm — 8:00 pm. If you are interested in getting more information or to reserve a spot, please visit our website at https://mbgourds.com/event/summer-celebration-2020-2/.
The food trucks, FireBox Grill and Hall’s ice Cream, Hot Head’s Hot Sauce stand and Hat Creek Winery will be ready to start serving food and drinks around 4:00 pm and will be open until 8:00 pm. The food trucks are located outside of the ticketed area so anyone can order food from them during this time. Please remember that not all our vendors take credit card so remember to bring some cash with you.
We are excited to do this first event of 2020 and with your help, we feel we can have a successful and safe one. We want everyone who attends to feel safe and comfortable, so we do require face masks while shopping in the oops tents and in our retail store. Please respect social distancing while shopping and use the hand sanitizer provided. With everyone doing their part, we know we can have a night to remember.
