Fall Fest 2016

Fall is right around the corner and I don’t know about you but I am ready to bring out the sweaters and sit by the bonfire on a cool starry night. At Meadowbrooke, this also means that Fall Fest is quickly approaching. The dates are September 24 & 25 and October 1 & 2, 2016.

Our Annual Fall Oops Sale will take place the first weekend on September 24 & 25th. This year, we will be holding the sale under a tent across from the retail store. For those of you unfamiliar with our oops sale, throughout the year as we craft our gourds, we occasionally make small oops. A small slip of the saw a small crack, a drip in the finish, or maybe just a few more than our great sales genius can sell. We collect these and are putting them out in mass at great discounts for our sale! Most of our customers can never find why they are an oops!!

Our Create Your Own Fall Workshop will be held both weekends of the Fall Fest. Many of you may have read about the workshop in our last blog. If so, you already know that we are changing to a reservation system for our Create Your Own Fall Workshop. Registration has already begun, but there are plenty of spaces still available. This is your chance to work with our talented craftsmen to make your own unique gourd. This year we have lots of gourds for you to choose from and the workshop is for all ages and artistic skill. Some of the gourds are pre-cut with leaves, faces, and other fall designs while some are completely blank for those of you that are feeling more creative and artsy. No matter which one you choose, you will go home with a beautiful gourd that you can claim you did by yourself.

Some of the techniques you can do at the workshop seem really tricky but are actually quite simple once you are taught them. We have put together several videos, of gourd products you can choose to make, just for the Fall Create Your Own. You can watch these videos to get an idea of what you may want to make and learn the techniques used to make them. These videos are easy to step by step instructions to help you craft your gourd. You can even play the video while you are here crafting your gourd. To take a look at the videos, you can watch them on our website. If you like the videos make sure you subscribe to the channel so you can be updated as we begin to add additional how-to videos. I don’t know how often I hear, “I have no artistic ability,” or “mine would never turn out like that”. I can also tell you that after seeing the gourds that are done by the ones who claim to have “no artistic ability,” anyone can do this and take home a gourd that they are proud of.

There will be simple good food available to purchase each day of the event for the participants of the workshop. The menu will consist of hot dogs, turkey/cheese sandwiches, chips, soda/water and juice for the kids. Molly Pitcher Brewing Co. will be here serving their craft beer (must be 21 to partake). The food cart will visit each room throughout your crafting time in case you get hungry while creating.

Come spend the day with us making memories with your friends and family as you create one gourd at a time. If you have any questions, please call us 717-776-6029 or email me at dorih@mbgourds.com. Hope to see everyone there!
