Can’t Wait for Spring
I absolutely love the seasons in Pennsylvania. I am one of those strange people that loves the fall season when it gets dark at 5:00 p.m. and I can go home, light some candles, get in my pajamas and relax for the evening. With that being said, I have to tell you that I am ready for this “winter” weather to be over. It has been the strangest winter I can remember. We went from having snow whiteouts one day, to literally 70-degree weather the next day, to downpours that flooded our road here at the farm. When we woke up in the morning, you never knew if you had to wear your heaviest coat, a raincoat and umbrella or just shorts and a t-shirt. Like I said, I really like all the seasons but I can honestly say I am now ready for spring.
So now that spring is close (hopefully), I have started to rearrange the store. I started putting the snowmen and Santas away and putting bunnies, chicks, and ducks out. I am super excited about this because we have almost totally redone our spring line. Their smiling faces and pretty spring colors make me wish for warmer weather all the more. This year too we have what we call our Tiny gourd creations and they are about as cute as can be. I also realized that even though each of our spring lines is different colors, it is the first time I have felt you could mix and match the pieces instead of feeling like you could only put certain spring families of gourds together because the other colors didn’t match the best. This year they just look perfect together. So hopefully, even if the weather does not cooperate, you will feel spring has sprung when you walk in the doors of the retail store.
All of us at Meadowbrooke are also getting ready for our Spring Create Your Own. Our production teams are washing and cutting the gourds into all the projects that will be available this year. I am busy handling the registration part, taking cancellations and managing the waitlist. Ben and Ashley (the owner and his daughter) who also design about 98% or more of our products sure came up with some cute additions this year. If this is the first time you have heard about this, check it out on our website at https://mbgourds.com//activities/event/spring-create-your-own-2018. Currently, we are completely full but you can put your name on the waitlist if you are still interested in coming.
One more thing before I go. Those of you who have been at the Create Your Own events in the past will notice a big improvement in the room you go to check in and pay for your crafted gourds at the end. Instead of having the room about 5 different colors, we decided it needed a facelift. We have totally repainted the room a warm tan color, added cedar baseboard and edging and put down a nice floor that is very comfortable to walk on. We are not completely done decorating yet as we are looking for just the right accents we feel will work good in this room. Well, I hope you get a chance to come to see us this spring and take in all the new spaces and designs.
