Spring is Coming to the Farm

It is Saturday morning and I am sitting here drinking my coffee and thinking I should be cleaning my house but instead I decided to write to all of you. Don’t you all feel very special right now? Although, tomorrow is Valentine’s Day so maybe I should be shopping for candy, nah, that can wait until later. We have a few things coming up and I wanted to give you the updates.

Spring Create Your Own

Our Spring Create Your Own will be held the first two weekends of March and is currently about 50% full. We are offering 6 classes each day held in two separate rooms. Each room is limited to 25 people. If you do sign up, please notice if you are in the front or back room per your ticket type as this will determine where you go to enter your classroom. This is a great getaway with your friends and family since the weather has been a bit chilly to be out and about doing anything else. All projects are now listed on our website so you can start planning what you want to craft while you are here. Here is the link to see all of the great spring designs, https://mbgourds.com/event/spring-create-your-own-2021/. We are very excited to be back this year for spring since last year we were shut down and weren’t able to hold the Create Your Own.

Spring Create Your Own Kits

Beginning on March 1st, we will be offering kits from our Spring Create Your Own designs. Not every design will be available but we will have several in each size. This is a great opportunity if you live too far to come to the farm or just feel more comfortable working on them in the comfort of your own home to hand make your own spring gourds. These kits will be available until March 15th and will be shipped directly to your home. Amber and I will holding a Zoom class on March 23rd at 6:30pm to help answer any questions you may have as you craft your kits while we work on our own projects. If you order a kit, you will receive an invitation to attend the Zoom class.

Annual Gourd Egg Hunt

Another event that was cancelled last year was our Annual Gourd Egg Hunt. This year, our egg hunt will be held on April 17th. We will be having 3 hunts at 11:00am, 1:30pm and 4:00pm. Each hunt will last one hour. We hide 2000 colored eggs and 21 prize eggs in each hunt. Each person who wants to enter the field to hunt must register for the egg hunt and just a heads up, if you are unfamiliar with our egg huts, they normally fill up within 24 hours so keep a eye on your email (don’t forget to look in your spam/junk folder). Everyone will be limited to 5 colored eggs and if you are lucky enough, one prize egg.

New this year, we will be collecting a $5.00 non-refundable donation to participate in our egg hunt. This donation will be benefitting the Upper Frankford Fire Company this year. Last Wednesday, I contacted them to let them know about the egg hunt and that they would be receiving the donation. Andrea, Vice-President of the Fire Company, informed me that they are hoping to be able to purchase a new truck this year. We were not aware of this but very excited to be able to help with this endeavor.

We are still working on many things for Spring and will be updating you on them as details become available. We are looking forward to actually being able to spend Spring with all of you this year and anxious to see what the rest of the year will bring. Well, I guess I am off to the store to buy my Valentines some candy. Hope you all are staying warm, safe and healthy.
