Special Events at Our Gourd Farm

Each year we host several different events at our farm in Carlisle, PA. We actually have many customers request the dates of our events so they can “save the date” for a special outing to Meadowbrooke. Long before each event much thought, time and effort is put into every aspect. While you may see some of the same activities, each event is unique and often varies from year to year. We try our best to plan events the entire family will enjoy and have a memorable experience. Around Easter, we host a Spring Open House. This event is famous for the great “Gourd Egg Hunt.” During this activity our farm will be visited by over 1200 guests from Pennsylvania and all surrounding states. Several weeks before the egg hunt, we start taking reservations. Usually within hours all spaces are booked. There is much excitement the day of the egg hunt. Over 2000 dyed gourd eggs and 30 prize eggs are hidden in acres of farmland. Our “Create Your Own” workshop is also happening during which you may make your own unique gourd bunny, paint gourd eggs, basket or birdhouse. There is also a sale in our Retail Store.

Our Summer Celebration is in July, typically the third Friday. This evening event is outdoors and is usually the hottest day of the summer! We have our “Oops” gourds out in mass under a large tent so many shoppers can look for the special gourds they want at reduced prices. There is also live music, food (including ice cream) and activities for the children.

Fall Fest is at the end of September when the temperatures are cooler. During this event we offer our “Create Your Own” workshop featuring scarecrows, jack o’ lanterns and witches. Scenic horse-drawn wagon rides around the farm are a wonderful way to enjoy Autumn. There are painting projects for children and adults as well as a sale in our Retail Store. Don’t forget to bring your camera for photos at the Jack Shaq and Gourd Keeper’s Cottage. These photo opportunities are uniquely Meadowbrooke!

If you still haven’t had a chance to participate in our “Create Your Own” workshops, there is one more chance at our Winter Gala.During this workshop you may choose to make a gourd snowman, angel or Santa. (Hint: These make wonderful handmade gifts for someone special on your gift-giving list!) We also hold a sale in our Retail Store on Small Business Saturday. Thank you for your support!

Even though these events require much work on our part, we look forward to each one. This is a special time for us to put down the jigsaw, walk away from the computer and other daily tasks to interact with our customers (many of whom have become our friends over the years.) Take a drive to the country and experience Meadowbrooke Gourds!
